Earlier today, the White House, House Ways and Means Committee, and Senate Finance Committee released their highly-anticipated “unified framework” for tax reform, which calls for elimination of the death tax and its principal components.

While the framework is lacking in significant detail and it is clear that much work remains to be done, this represents a critical first step to enactment of tax reform that includes repeal of the death tax.

As the tax reform process plays out, we will continue to advocate for repeal of the death tax and raise awareness that death should not be a taxable event.
